Buster
Matthew Macfadyen and Keeley Hawes have a big red standard Poodle named Buster that they got in the summer of 2020. They chose this breed because it’s hypoallergenic, as Macfadyen is allergic to cats and dogs.
Ditto the Dog - Mondale from "Succession" and Radar from "Severance"
Ditto is a dog actor that’s best known for his role as Mondale on HBO’s “Succession”, where he plays Mondale, the dog of Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook). Ditto also has a role on Apple TV’s “Severance”, where he plays Radar, the dog of Irving (John Turturro). The photo of Ditto show here was shared by “Severance” director Ben Stiller on Twitter when he was impressed to find out Ditto was also on “Succession” but never mentioned it to him.
Working with #Ditto on #Severance for the first time since i found out he’s Mondale on #Succession. I’m both starstruck and and a little hurt he didn’t tell me before. I think he probably worried I’d ask him too many fan questions which he wouldn’t be allowed to answer.

Rescue Mini Poodle
In December 2023, Keeley Hawes and Matthew Macfayen adopted a miniature Poodle from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. The happy couple has yet to reveal the name of the lucky rescue. And oh yeah, please note the new pup is on her lap in the background. The big boy blocking the view is her brother, Buster, who clearly needs some time to adjust to sharing his fur parents’ attention.

Matthew Macfadyen
Matthew Macfadyen is an English actor who has appeared in film, television, and theatre. He is known for his performance as Mr. Darcy in “Joe Wright’s Pride & Prejudice” (2005), Daniel in the Frank Oz comedy “Death at a Funeral”, and Tom Wambsgans in “Succession.” He also portrayed John Birt in the political drama “Frost/Nixon” and Detective Inspector Edmund Reid in the BBC series “Ripper Street”.
He initially gained widespread attention for his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 2005 adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice,” where he starred alongside Keira Knightley. Following this, he appeared in “Death at a Funeral,” “Frost/Nixon,” and the television series “Spooks,” cementing his versatility as an actor.
Since 2018, Macfadyen has appeared as Tom Wambsgans in the HBO drama series “Succession”. For this role, he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2020. “Succession” also stars Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, James Cromwell, and Dagmara Domińczyk.
Throughout his career, Macfadyen has had the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of artists and celebrities. These include Keira Knightley in “Pride and Prejudice,” Alan Rickman and Rupert Graves in “The Pillars of the Earth,” Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber in “Defiance,” Michael Sheen and Frank Langella in “Frost/Nixon,” Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in “Les Misérables,” Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgård in “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” Bill Nighy in “The Limehouse Golem,” and Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong in “Succession.”
Macfadyen’s body of work has not gone unnoticed. He received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in “The Lost Prince.” He was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for “Succession.” In June 2010, Macfadyen won the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work on Criminal Justice.
Matthew Macfadyen is married to actress Keely Hawes and they have three children together.
