Matthew Macfadyen
Matthew Macfadyen is an English actor who has appeared in film, television, and theatre. He is known for his performance as Mr. Darcy in “Joe Wright’s Pride & Prejudice” (2005), Daniel in the Frank Oz comedy “Death at a Funeral”, and Tom Wambsgans in “Succession.” He also portrayed John Birt in the political drama “Frost/Nixon” and Detective Inspector Edmund Reid in the BBC series “Ripper Street”.
He initially gained widespread attention for his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in the 2005 adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice,” where he starred alongside Keira Knightley. Following this, he appeared in “Death at a Funeral,” “Frost/Nixon,” and the television series “Spooks,” cementing his versatility as an actor.
Since 2018, Macfadyen has appeared as Tom Wambsgans in the HBO drama series “Succession”. For this role, he received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2020. “Succession” also stars Nicholas Braun, Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Sarah Snook, Jeremy Strong, James Cromwell, and Dagmara Domińczyk.

He received a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance in “The Lost Prince.” He was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for “Succession.” In June 2010, Macfadyen won the British Academy Television Award for Best Supporting Actor for his work on Criminal Justice.
Matthew Macfadyen is married to actress Keely Hawes and they have three children together.
