Kid (Dog)

Kid is a mix-breed puppy. Kid was featured in a segment on “The Ellen Degeneres” show. When asked why they named their new adoption “Kid”, Ellen explained that she was tired of being asked when they will adopt a child of their own.

Augie (Dog)

Augie is a beagle mix who was rescued from a local LA shelter. Though Ellen has mentioned he has some issues, she and Portia make sure to shower him with endless love and affection.

Wolf (Dog)

Breed: Poodle-Maltese Mix

Together with Portia de Rossi, Ellen Degeneres had a poodle-Maltese mix rescue named Wolf. The pup sadly passed away in the summer of 2020. Wolf was a cherished part of the family for over a decade.

Mabel (Dog)

Mabel came from a line of champion show dogs and was a beautiful part of the Ellen-Portia family. She is resting in peace with her siblings Charlie and Wolf.

Charlie (Cat)

In January 2020, Portia and Ellen said a sad farewell to their beloved cat Charlie. In an interview with People Magazine, the talk show host said that saying goodbye was “one of the hardest decisions” she had to make. RIP Charlie <3

George (Cat)

George is a Siamese who loves to cuddle (both with people and his cat siblings). His celebrity status has been known to attract the likes of wild bobcats, as seen in a tweet from Ellen.

Mrs. Wallis Browning (Dog)

Adopted from Wagmorpets in 2019, this adorable brown poodle is the newest addition to the Ellen-Portia family. Her name is Mrs. Wallis Browning. Or Wallis, or Wally, but Mrs. Wallis Whitmore Browning is her maiden name.

Sinky (Bird)

Breed: Chickcen

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have a chicken named Sinky. DeGeneres said Steve Carell gave the chicken its name after seeing the photos of it sitting in a sink. DeGeneres posted videos of Sinky to Instagram in late December 2023. DeGeneres shared that Sinky was recuperating in the sink as she was injured. And that Sinky had a broken fibula and the sink was no longer best for her recovery. So Sinky ended up needing four weeks to recover in a special chicken clinic.

Jinx and Monkey (Cat)

Pet Sibling Drama

In September 2020, Degeneres shared the news that her dog Kid suffered a broken leg from her other dog Wally. “Over the weekend, our dog Wally was running full-speed across the lawn,” she continued. “Our dog Kid happened to be in the way and she just trampled over [him]. So Kid was screaming in pain and we knew his leg was broken. It was awful, awful, awful.”

Kid’s front leg was wrapped in a cast for 12 weeks and eventually made a full recovery. Degeneres kept the humour intact by adding “And of course, now Kid wants to sue Wally.”

Halo Purely for Pets

In 2009, Ellen became part owner of the all-natural pet food company Halo Purely for Pets. She and her wife, Portia de Rossi, have rescued and adopted many cats and dogs together over the years. Ellen often discusses how much she loves animals on her talk show, mentioning that “they are the best companions that you can have”. They’ve become such a popular aspect of Ellen’s life and show that she even added them as adorable pins to her website for purchase as well as an entire section of pet accessories.
