Time Magazine just crowned their 2023 “Person of the Year” as Taylor Swift, with a cover that features the first celebrity pet to appear alongside the winner in the award’s 25+ year history.
The First Cat Lady of The United States of America is seen wearing all black – With her only accessory being her Ragdoll cat, Benjamin Button, regally draped across her shoulders – With the power couple’s matching steely blue eyes almost piercing through the photo.
While Swift loves her cat, like many cat moms, with plenty of appearances by all three of them on her Instagram. And when she sends out a Christmas Card, does it have her, her family, partner, or friends on it? Nope, just her three fur babies.

Below is an Instagram posted a few months after Swift adopted Benjamin Button in 2019 (and named him after Brad Pitt’s character in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.)
But Swift also cites her kitties as major sources of inspiration, on top of their emotional support and cuddles. Back in 2019, Swift made Time Magzine’s “Most Influential People” list, where she shared her three biggest influences: Tumblr, Paul McCartney, and her three cats. She told Time, “I have cats. I’m obsessed with them. I love my cats so much that when a role came up in a movie called Cats, I just thought, like, I gotta do this.” She also takes her kitties on tour with her, with fellow cat mom and pop star Beabadoobee proudly sharing a photo of her with Meredith Grey.
And in case you missed it: Mariska Hargitay, the actress who plays Meredith Grey on Law & Order: SVU, named her cat “Karma,” after the Taylor Swift song.
When Swift shared that she won, her priority was to crack a joke about bringing her cat.

And it was nice to see her youngest fur child Ben get the chance to shine, as her two Scottish Folds Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson usually take the spotlight. Such as Olivia Benson being considered one of the world’s richest pets, getting a shoutout in Deadpool 2 from Ryan Reynolds, to getting dissed by comedian John Cleese. Below, Twitter user @greg16676935420 posted the reply to Swift’s tweet, using an iconic photo of Meredith Grey.
