Zain Malik, also known as Zayn, is an English singer. Born and raised in Bradford, Zayn auditioned as a solo contestant for the British music competition The X Factor in 2010. He was eliminated as a solo performer, however, Malik was brought back into the competition to form the boy band One Direction with Harry Styles and 3 other contestants. The group became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. Malik left the group in March 2015 and subsequently signed a solo recording contract with RCA Records.
