Musicians

Zayn Malik is a British musician known for his tenure with the successful boy band, One Direction, and his subsequent work as a solo artist. He’s also known for his past relationship with model Gigi Hadid, who he had a daughter with named Khai.

Following his stint on the reality competition show, The X Factor, Malik, along with Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, formed One Direction in 2010. The group’s debut album, Up All Night (2011), topped charts worldwide and spawned the hit single “What Makes You Beautiful”. Their subsequent albums, Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), and Four (2014) further established them as pop sensations. Malik, however, embarked on a solo career in 2015, releasing his debut solo album, Mind of Mine (2016), which included the chart-topping single “Pillowtalk”. His second album, Icarus Falls (2018), demonstrated a departure from his boy band roots, leaning more towards R&B and experimental pop.

Throughout his career, Malik has collaborated with an array of musicians and producers, each one contributing to the development of his unique sound. He has worked with the renowned producer Malay, who co-produced his debut solo album. A collaboration with Taylor Swift, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, featured on the soundtrack for the film Fifty Shades Darker, was a commercial success. He also worked with the likes of Sia on the track “Dusk Till Dawn”, and PARTYNEXTDOOR on “Still Got Time”. Furthermore, his collaboration with Zhavia Ward for a rendition of “A Whole New World” for the Aladdin soundtrack earned him widespread acclaim.

Malik’s contributions to music have not gone unnoticed. He won the Billboard Music Award for New Artist of the Year in 2016. His debut single as a solo artist, “Pillowtalk”, made him the first British artist to debut at number one on both the UK Singles Chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. His collaboration with Taylor Swift, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever”, earned him a Best Song Written for Visual Media nomination at the 60th Annual Grammy Awards. He also received an MTV Video Music Award for Best Collaboration for the same track.
