St. Francis of Assisi (the patron saint of animals) would be proud of the newest addition to a Bolivian Monastery: Friar Moustache.
The Schnauzer named Carmelo was adopted by a Franciscan Monastery in Bolivia and has quickly become the Monks favourite brother. He was welcomed into the fold, christened Fray Bigotón (Friar Moustache) and enjoys preaching to the fish in his tiny, Franciscan habit.
Friar Moustache was rescued from the streets of Bolivia with the help of the rescue group Proyecto Narices Frías (The Cold Nose Project). The rescue group and the Monastery hope that Friar Moustache’s story will convince more Monasteries to open their doors to animals in need.
While the monks are a little mystified about Friar Moustache going viral, we can understand the internet’s obsession with this holy pup.
