Antilly the Wonder Hound, known as “Anti” to her friends, was a British canine thespian who just passed away at 13 years old. This accomplished German Shepherd started her career as a one-year-old pup and retired two years ago. She was best known for her role as Brandy, Ricky Gervais’ character’s dog in the Netflix series After Life.
Earlier today, Ricky Gervais shared a touching memorial video on Instagram. It recaps her wonderful life and career, along with her four-legged and two-legged family.
Anti has a vital role in After Life, in which she helps Ricky Gervais’ character Tony deal with grief and his mental health. Gervais, who is a proud cat dad and animal advocate, wanted to cast a dog for the series just so he could have a dog to hang out with.
Over the years, they not only became great colleagues but also great friends (with many fans assuming Anti was his actual dog) Gervais even admitted he cried when he had to say goodbye to Anti after filming wrapped.
As a veteran canine actor with a career stretching back over a decade, Anti’s first notable role was being an army dog in The Edge of Tomorrow with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt.
Anti comes from a doggo acting dynasty, as her parents were both actors. When Anti was just a puppy, her parents both played Bane’s guard dogs in The Dark Knight Rises. She’s also a philanthropist and helped fundraiser for the Florence Nightingale Hospice that her mom works for
Gervais did have a fun reunion with Anti in March 2024, when the pair stared in a commercial for Gervais’ vodka brand.
