Eva Mendes' Pets

Eva Mendes had a Belgian Malinois guard dog named Hugo that she got in 2011. Hugo passed away in 2014 at the age of 10. The breed is renowned for their agility and protective temperament, and is usually used by police and military forces. While most celebrities have fluffy playful dogs, Eva Mendes got herself a loyal guard dog that follows her every step. Prior to adopting Hugo, Eva had an issue with a fan from New York who stalked her to her doorstep, and claimed she was deathly in love with him (Even after she got a restraining order) Almost a year after, her then-boyfriend Ryan Gosling convinced her to adopt the loyal guard dog companion. Hugo is quite the canine. Thanks to his babysitter / trainer, Cesar Millan, Hugo was capable of taking down any adversary as well as burning off extra energy on a treadmill.

Hugo was also the inspiration behind Jean Claude the dog in Ryan Gosling’s movie The Fall Guy.

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling have a rescue Doberman named Lucho, adopted from the Friends for Life Rescue Network in July 2019.

Goerge was Ryan Gosling’s dog and “true love of his life”. Gosling adopted the lucky mixed breed rescue way back in 1999, with George accompanying Gosling to the sets of all of his movies throughout his career. Gosling considered George not a “real” dog in that he was more a strange person than a dog. George passed away in December 2016 at the age of 17. This lil rescue even made an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he sported his iconic mohawk, which apparently turned him into a badass whenever his fur was cut like this.
