David Ayer
David Ayer is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter known for his work in the action and thriller films. Ayer gained massive popularity for writing and directing “Training Day,” which starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke. The film, which followed a rookie police officer’s first day on the job, and earned Ayer an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
Ayer also wrote and directed the 2012 film “End of Watch.” The film, which starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as two LAPD officers, was praised for its realistic portrayal of police work and its depiction of the bond between the two main characters. The film earned Ayer a number of award nominations, including a Critics’ Choice Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
Ayer has collaborated with Will Smith in the films “Suicide Squad” and “Bright,” and with Brad Pitt in the film “Fury.” He has also collaborated with Charlize Theron in the film “The Tax Collector,” and with Jake Gyllenhaal in “End of Watch” and the Netflix film “The Guilty.” Additionally, Ayer has worked with Shia LaBeouf in both “Fury” and “The Tax Collector.”
