Robert John Downey Jr. is an American actor born April 4, 1965. Considered one of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors over the last 10 years, he has an estimated net worth of $240 million. The son of a director and writer, he first appeared in a film made his father at age 5. He became a famous celebrity in his teens and early 20s, appearing in 80s films such as Weird Science and Less Than Zero. His lead performance in Chaplin (1992) earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and won him a BAFTA Award for Best Actor.
In the late 90s, he publicly dealt with drug addiction and other legal issues, which affected both his personal and professional life.
