The late actor Robin Williams loved animals, from collecting Standard Poodles, to adopting pugs, to his famous relationship with Koko the talking gorilla. So the idea that this eccentric comedian had a pet monkey doesn’t sound that far-fetched. So many were quick to believe and share a viral tweet of a photo of Williams with his pet monkey… But his daughter Zelda caught wind and set the record straight.
It’s been brought to my attention some probably AI written BS like this is going viral. Dad didn’t own a pet monkey, NO ONE should, and if you’re ever tempted to, support your local exotic animal rescues instead. That is his Night at the Museum costar, who now lives at one. https://t.co/VmYHD8dE34

Understandably displeased with the tweet, Zelda confirmed her dad’s supposed pet is actually Crystal, a capuchin monkey and one of the most successful monkey actors – With five of her hit movies grossing over $2.5 billion!
She states they costarred together in the Night at the Museum movies with Ben Stiller, with Crystal playing the role of Dexter. She then also makes a point that no one should own a pet monkey and that Crystal is currently retired at a sanctuary.
Crystal started acting in 1997 and still acts today – With her latest role in Apple TV+’s 2024 series, Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn.
Besides the Night at the Museum trilogy, her other blockbuster role was in The Hangover Part II with Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, and Bradley Cooper.
