It’s a sad day in Beverly Hills as Kyle Richards, OG of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, announced the passing of her beloved German Shepherd, River. The loyal companion, who was 15 years old, crossed the rainbow bridge on May 9th.

River was a classic “foster fail,” a dog who came into Richards’ life and simply never left, quickly becoming an indispensable part of the family. Described by Richards as “the most loyal dog I have ever known,” River was a constant presence, from waiting by the window for her return to keeping watch by the shower.
According to Richards, River’s last day was filled with love, spent outside surrounded by family, including her canine siblings. In a touching recount, Richards shared that River, despite struggling with her back legs, made her way to each family member to nuzzle them goodbye before passing peacefully. The outpouring of support included messages from fellow reality stars and friends, such as Chrishell Stause, who said, I grew up with German Shepherd. They are the most beautiful loyal loving family members. I’m so so sorry.” Also Selma Blair commented, “the sadness when the angels go. beautiful love.” Richards, who has a pack of rescue dogs, also used the sad moment to advocate for adoption.
Richards last had a foster fail in February 2024, with an adorable baby Bernese Mountain Dog named Georgie. And did you know Richards said having six dogs is like having six husbands?
