Virginia Madsen is an American actress known for her Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated performance as Maya in Sideways (2004). She gained early recognition for her role as Helen Lyle in the horror film Candyman (1992) and has appeared in a wide range of film and television productions.

In Sideways, she acted alongside Paul Giamatti, Thomas Haden Church, and Sandra Oh. In Candyman, she performed with Tony Todd. She appeared in The Rainmaker (1997), sharing scenes with Matt Damon and Claire Danes. In Dune (1984), she acted opposite Kyle MacLachlan. She had a recurring role on Designated Survivor (2016–2017), performing with Kiefer Sutherland. She appeared in Swamp Thing (2019), acting with Crystal Reed and Andy Bean. She also starred in American Gothic (2016), appearing alongside Antony Starr and Megan Ketch.
