Kimberly Elise
Kimberly Elise is an American actress known for her work in film and television. She starred as Carolyne Hunter in John Q (2002) and played Helen Simmons in Diary of a Mad Black Woman (2005). Her film credits include Set It Off (1996), Beloved (1998), and The Manchurian Candidate (2004). She also starred in the television series Close to Home (2005–2007) as Maureen Scofield.
Elise starred in Set It Off, acting alongside Queen Latifah in the crime drama. In John Q, she played Carolyne Hunter, appearing opposite Denzel Washington. She portrayed Helen Simmons in Diary of a Mad Black Woman, sharing scenes with Steve Harris. In Beloved, she acted alongside Oprah Winfrey in the historical drama. In The Manchurian Candidate, she appeared with Meryl Streep. On Close to Home, she played prosecutor Maureen Scofield, working closely with Jennifer Finnigan throughout the series. She also appeared in For Colored Girls (2010), acting alongside Thandiwe Newton.
