Duhan van der Merwe is a South African-born Scottish international rugby union player who plays as a wing for Edinburgh in the United Rugby Championship and the Scotland national team. He made his debut for Scotland in October 2020 and has since become known for his significant contributions on the field, including scoring on his debut.

Van der Merwe began his professional career in South Africa with the Blue Bulls before moving to Montpellier in France. However, it was his transfer to Edinburgh in 2017 that marked a turning point in his career. At Edinburgh, his performances improved significantly, leading to his qualification to play for Scotland through residency. He quickly made an impact on the international stage, setting a record for the most tries scored by a Scottish player in a single Six Nations Championship in 2021.

His collaborations with coaches and players have been pivotal in his career. Working under Richard Cockerill at Edinburgh allowed Van der Merwe to refine his skills and gain the form that led to his international call-up. His on-field partnerships with fellow Scotland players like Stuart Hogg, Finn Russell, and Chris Harris, as well as international teammates like Hamish Watson and Zander Fagerson, have been crucial.
