Danny Trejo is a big supporter of adopting pets from shelters. Over the years, he has adopted dogs from all walks of life from newly available to adopted to elderly and injured pets. He shared he has the following dogs: Liam, The Duke, John Wesley Hardin, Penny Lane, Sgt. Pepper, and Dixie. He’s mentioned he has or had breeds including Chihuahuas, Poodles, Pitbulls, Rottweilers, and mutts.

Danny Trejo had an adopted Chihuahua named Dixie who was the most famous of his rescue dog pack. Dixie passed away in July 2024, with Trejo posting a tribute to his beloved “pitbull chasing” pup.
