Weighing in at only three pounds, Norbert was one tiny therapy dog. But since he was adopted in 2009, he’s had a huge positive impact on so many lives. From countless volunteer visits to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and other events – to raising thousands for various charities and donating thousands of his books and stuffies – To delighting millions through social media.
But we’re sad to report that on January 27, 2025 – Nobert passed away, just two months short of his 16th birthday. He was admitted to his animal hospital due to an unexpected kidney issue early last week.
He kept his strength up enough to return home on Sunday to be with his family – Then crossed the Rainbow Bridge the following night. With his human Julie Steines sharing, “…passed away peacefully wrapped in the warmth of my arms”
Norbert’s human shared an emotional tribute to Norbert, touching on all his accomplishments and the love he shared, saying, “…you don’t have to be big to make a BIG difference in the world.” Support and condolences have poured into the post’s comment section, with almost 30k comments in one day.
Julie also followed up with a post thanking all of Norbert’s fans.

Actor Mickey Rourke even dedicated a post to the beloved pup.
Norman’s human, Julie, who is also certified to work alongside Norman in his therapy work, posted a tribute on her personal Instagram to thank friends, family, and others who supported Norman.
