In June, Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham shared the shocking news of their tiny rescue chihuahua Nala’s sudden death. Nicola explained, “Nala was perfectly healthy when she went to the groomers yesterday but came out hyperventilating and couldn’t catch her breath. we rushed her to the vet and she passed hours later.”
Fast forward to August – Where Nicola and Brooklyn are now suing the groomer, and shared a statement with People covering the details. The celebrity pet couple stated that Nala’s death was caused by the groomer’s alleged “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs.” Also the grooming company, HoundSpa, for “reckless and malicious conduct” for keeping the groomer employed following an alleged “history of complaints” about him “repeatedly” mistreating and abusing animals.
New details include the severity of poor little Nala’s injuries and the tragic absurdity of the horrible situation. Nala was groomed in a mobile grooming van just outside their house and then rushed to a vet just 15 minutes away – But passed away several hours later. “Nala went into the grooming van, a happy, healthy dog, but returned injured and in severe physical distress – breathing heavily and wheezing, with her chest pulsating,” the lawsuit continued, “Nala’s tongue was blue, she had fluid in her lungs, and she suffered neurological damage. Nala was put on oxygen and cared for as Nicola distressingly and emotionally witnessed her dog suffer”
The second image in the Instagram post above is a message from Nicola, touching on how her story is shockingly common. And how she now vows to work towards changes and law updates to protect dogs and their owners. Nicola is already a very active advocate for dogs, which includes confounding @itsyogishouse, a women-owned and operated dog shelter.
