NHL Hosting the First “Stanley Pup” Rescue Dog Hockey Tournament

Following the terrific tradition that is the NFL’s ‘Puppy Bowl“, The NHL is hosting their very first “Stanley Pup” tournament! Taking place on June 7th, it will see 16 shelter puppies representing the 16 teams that made the Stanley Cup playoffs. (And throwback to when Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg coached the Puppy Bowl)

In partnership with non-profit Petco Love, the 16 dogs are up for adoption from the cities they represent. And win or lose, we’re sure they’ll all find their furever homes thanks to this (plus help raise awareness for pet adoption across the country).

Steve Mayer, an NHL Vice President, said, “At the NHL, we love supporting great causes and the opportunity to produce a program that finds homes for rescue dogs is so fulfilling. The show promises to be great fun and we can’t wait for our participating puppies Nathan McKibble, Joe Pawvelski, Alexander O-fetch-kin and many more hit our Stanley Pup rink.”
