Skylar Astin
Skylar Astin is an American actor and singer. Astin began his career in the entertainment industry in 2006, with his first major role in the Broadway production of “Spring Awakening.” He went on to star in other productions, including “The Wedding Singer” and “Rent.”
In 2012, Astin transitioned from stage to screen, making his film debut in the hit comedy “Pitch Perfect.” He played the role of Jesse Swanson, a member of the Barden Bellas’ rival a cappella group, the Treblemakers. His performance in the film was widely praised, earning him critical acclaim and a legion of fans. He reprised his role in the film’s sequels, “Pitch Perfect 2” and “Pitch Perfect 3,” which also starred Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Elizabeth Banks, Adam DeVine, Hailee Steinfeld, and Hana Mae Lee.
Aside from his role in “Pitch Perfect,” Astin played the lead role of Max in the 2014 romantic comedy “Cavemen” and had a recurring role on the hit TV show “Glee.” He also starred in the short-lived TBS sitcom “Ground Floor” and had a supporting role in the comedy film “22 Jump Street.”
Astin has had the opportunity to work alongside Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill in “22 Jump Street” and worked with legendary director Ivo van Hove on the Broadway revival of “West Side Story.” Astin has also collaborated with artists such as Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson on the “Pitch Perfect” soundtracks.
