Mutya Buena
Mutya Buena is a British singer and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the Sugababes, one of the most successful girl groups in British music history. She gained prominence with the Sugababes, achieving multiple top ten singles and platinum albums in the UK.
Buena’s career began with the Sugababes, where she contributed to the group’s early success with hits such as “Overload,” “Freak Like Me,” and “Round Round.” After departing from the group in 2005, she embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut solo album, “Real Girl,” in 2007. The title track of this album, featuring a sample from Lenny Kravitz‘s “It Ain’t Over ’til It’s Over,” became a top ten hit in the UK. Buena also made notable contributions as a featured artist on songs by Groove Armada with “Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control)” and other musicians.
Buena’s career includes several impactful collaborations. She worked with Amy Winehouse on backing vocals for the song “B Boy Baby.” She featured on tracks with George Michael, who invited her to perform at his concerts. Buena collaborated with rapper Nelly on the remix of “Real Girl” and provided vocals for “Fallin'” with Rahsaan Patterson. She participated in the charity single “I Got Soul” alongside artists like Pixie Lott and Tinchy Stryder. Buena also collaborated with producer William Orbit on several tracks.
