Michael Nyqvist was a Swedish actor best known for playing iconic on-screen villains. Born and raised in Sweden, Nyqvist began his acting career at a young age, starting out with small roles in various Swedish films and television shows. He passed away on June 27 2017.

It was not until the mid-2000s that Nyqvist’s career really took off. In 2004, he starred in the Swedish film “As It Is in Heaven,” which earned critical acclaim and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. This breakthrough role led to more opportunities for Nyqvist in both Swedish and international productions.

Nyqvist is perhaps best known for his role as Mikael Blomkvist in the Swedish film adaptations of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy. His portrayal of the investigative journalist earned him widespread recognition and helped to propel the films to international success.

In addition to his work on the big screen, Nyqvist also had a successful career in the theater. He was a member of the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm, where he performed in a number of plays throughout his career.

Throughout his career, Nyqvist had the opportunity to work with many talented individuals in the entertainment industry. He starred alongside Noomi Rapace in the Millennium trilogy, and also appeared in the Tom Cruise action film “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.” He also worked with Keanu Reeves on the 2014 action thriller “John Wick,” in which he played the villainous Viggo Tarasov.
