Playdough (Cat)

Adopted 2001
Rescued

Halle Berry had a 16-year-old fluffy ginger cat named Playdough that she lost to brain cancer in May 2017. Playdough was given to Berry when she was cast as the lead for Catwoman, to help her understand cats better as she had never had one up until that point.

Yesterday my heart broke as we had to put our beloved Playdough to rest due to brain cancer. This little guy lit up our lives and brought us joy every day for 16 years! While his loss is tough for all of us, especially my children, it’s an inevitable part of life. Playdough and Maceo were pals. Every morning they had b’fast together. Playdough his kibble and Maceo his Cheerios… Side by side… On the floor together. The bond my kids shared with Playdough was unique and special and through it, they learned compassion and kindness and the importance of loving and caring for life’s sweetest creatures. Yesterday Playdough reminded us all that it’s better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all! We will miss him!

John Wick 3 Dogs - Belgian Malinoises (Dog)

Breed: Belgian Malinois | Adopted 2019

In John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum, Halle Berry’s character Sofia AL-Azwar had two Belgian Malinois dogs named Dazir and Havan that helped out Keanu Reeves as John Wick. Dazir translates to “Gift from God”, and Havan translates to “safe place”. There were actually five dog actors playing the two roles names are Boyca, Ikar, Tai, Santana, and Sam 7. Unlike most films that use CGI, the dogs, like the human actors in John Wick, did almost all of their own stunts. Along with extensive combat training, Berry trained extensively with the dogs. This was so they could all act better together by listening and looking at Berry while filming, as opposed to the dogs looking off-screen at a trainer.
