Dove Cameron is an American actress and singer, who was apart of the Disney Channel comedy series Liv and Maddie where she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in Children’s Programming. She has also portrayed Mal in the Descendants film series. As a singer, she gained popularity through her soundtrack album to Liv and Maddie (2015). In 2015, she released her debut single, “If Only”, for Descendants. In 2019, Dove Cameron released her debut album debut EP, Bloodshot / Waste.

Dove’s career catapulted into the public eye with “Liv and Maddie,” which premiered in 2013 and lasted for four seasons. This role allowed her to demonstrate her acting chops and paved the way for her career in both acting and singing. After the series concluded, she continued to dominate the small screen with roles in “Descendants,” a Disney Channel Original Movie where she played Mal, the daughter of Maleficent. As a singer, Dove debuted her studio album “Bloodshot / Waste” in 2019, showing her versatility as an artist.

Over the years, Dove has collaborated with a host of celebrities and artists, which has only amplified her presence in the industry. Some of these collaborations include working with Sofia Carson, Cameron Boyce, and Booboo Stewart in “Descendants,” Kristin Chenoweth who played her mother in the same film, and director Kenny Ortega who guided the project. In music, she’s teamed up with artists like Ryan McCartan, forming the musical duo The Girl and the Dreamcatcher. Additionally, she’s worked alongside Cheyenne Jackson in “Descendants 3,” Jennifer Aniston in “Dumplin’,” and had a role opposite Scarlett Johansson in “The Marriage Story.” In 2022, Cameron worked alongside B.J. Novak, Boyd Holbrook, and Ashton Kutcher in the film Vengeance. Theatre-wise, she shared the stage with Renée Fleming and Alex Jennings in “The Light in the Piazza,” showcasing her range as a performer.

In 2018, she won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in a Children’s, Preschool Children’s or Educational and Informational Program for her work in “Liv and Maddie.” In the same vein, her role in “Descendants” led to several Teen Choice Awards nominations, with a win for Choice TV Actress: Comedy in 2014. She was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her original song “Genie in a Bottle,” a modern twist to the classic tune.
