You could consider country star Miranda Lambert as famous for her animal advocacy as her music, with her MuttNation charity having raised over $10 million to help dogs since 2009. And just in March, Lambert raised $140k for MuttNation through her Las Vegas residency. So you know she deeply cares about all dogs… But she unfortunately had sad doggy related news to share – Two of her beloved rescue dogs have passed away in the last six weeks.
Miranda Lambert’s famous rescue dog, Delta Dawn, passed away at 16
While just a tiny mutt, Delta Dawn was the big star among Lambert’s rescue dog pack – With five appearances in her mom’s music videos. She was found toughing it out as a stray before Lambert spotted her. Lambert opened her car door, the pup jumped right in, and the rest was history!
Miranda Lambert’s Great Pyrenees, Louise, passed away at 8 years old
In 2016, Lambert adopted two Great Pyrenees sisters named Thelma and Louise, who enjoyed their years protecting Lambert’s farm animal family on her ranch. Louise will join Thelma over the Rainbow Bridge, as she passed away last July.
MuttNation also took a moment to share the loss as a reminder that shelters are overcrowded everwhere and to please consider adopting.
In happier Lambert-related news, she’s hosting a “Music for Mutts” concert to benefit rescue dogs in October.
