Yuri (Dog)
Emperor Naruhito and Empress Masako have a royal canine named Yuri. He is a rescue that often appears with the royal family in photos and tours. Yuri is an Akita born in 2009.
Mari and Pippi
The royal family also have two rescue dogs after a stray wandered into their complex and gave birth to 10 puppies. The family kept two of the smallest and named them Mari and Pippi.

Emperor Naruhito is the Emperor of Japan and the 126th monarch according to Japan’s traditional order of succession. He was born on February 23, 1960 in Tokyo as the eldest child of Akihito and Michiko. He ascended to the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1, 2019 beginning the Reiwa era. In 1993, he married Harvard graduate and diplomat Masako Owada, with whom he has one daughter: Aiko, Princess Toshi.
