In what might be the most extravagant canine casting call of all time, the world’s wealthiest dog is officially looking for his next furry companion. Gunther VII, the German Shepherd who inherited a nine-figure fortune via his canine lineage, is hosting “The Barkelor,” a contest to find a worthy playmate. And yes, there are thousands of dollars, other goodies, and a chance at achieving celebrity pet status.

For those not yet acquainted with this mega-millionaire pup, Gunther VII is the heir to the House of Gunther, a dynasty funded by a massive trust. This isn’t just any dog; he travels by private jet, owns yachts, and is the face of “the world’s first dog-funded, influencer-driven content house.” Now, this pampered pooch is ready to share a piece of his lavish life.
According to a recent Instagram announcement, Gunther is inviting pet parents to enter their pups for a chance to win his attention and a $3,000 cash prize. The contest asks you to post a photo or reel of your pet, follow and tag Gunther’s account, and hope your dog has what it takes to catch the eye of a canine tycoon. Three lucky finalists will be flown to Los Angeles for a live taping of the “Barkelor” finale on July 18th, complete with “fun games and canine chemistry,” all filmed for a segment on Access Hollywood.
This follows his famous fur father, Gunther VI, retiring in April, with Gunther VII taking over as World’s Richest Dog.
