In devastating news shared on Friday, Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton revealed that his beloved bulldog, Roscoe, is in a coma and fighting for his life at a veterinary hospital. Hamilton made the announcement via his Instagram, asking his millions of followers to keep his famous companion in their thoughts during this critical time. Fellow Brit and dog dad, Gordon Ramsay, commented, “Thinking of you mate.”
The medical emergency began when Roscoe, who has a history of health issues, contracted pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe. According to Hamilton, the dog was admitted to the hospital and sedated for medical checks when the situation took a dire turn. “During the process his heart stopped,” Hamilton wrote. “They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he’s in a coma.”
The outlook remains uncertain, and the next 24 hours are crucial. In his post, which included photos of him cuddling the comatose Roscoe, Hamilton shared the gravity of the moment: “We don’t know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him up.” Hamilton, who is keeping a vigil by Roscoe’s side, thanked his fans for their prayers and support.
And despite him being a senior bully at 12 years old, it didn’t stop him from being featured on the cover of Vogue Magazine’s Dogue edition. We last covered Roscoe when he first met up with Charles Leclerc’s pup Leo. Hamilton (who is also vegan) credits switching Roscoe to a vegan diet for his long healthy life.
