Leah Williamson is an English professional footballer who plays for the Women’s Super League club Arsenal and captains the England women’s national team. She has spent her entire senior domestic career at Arsenal and represented Great Britain at the Olympics in 2021. Williamson captained England to their first UEFA European Championship victory in 2022, a significant milestone in women’s football, and was named in the Team of the Tournament.

Williamson’s journey in football began at a young age. She joined Rushden & Diamonds Centre of Excellence at six and moved to Arsenal’s Centre of Excellence in 2006. Making her senior team debut a day after her seventeenth birthday, Williamson quickly established herself as a key player. She won her first major title, the 2014 FA Women’s Cup with Arsenal, and played a pivotal role in the club’s victorious League Cup campaigns. In 2015, she signed her first professional contract with Arsenal and was named the 2014–15 PFA Young Women’s Player of the Year.

In her international career, Williamson represented England across all age-group teams before making her senior debut in 2018. Under manager Sarina Wiegman, she became a regular starter and was appointed permanent captain in 2022. Williamson’s leadership was instrumental in England’s success at the UEFA Women’s Championship in 2022, where they emerged as champions.
