Large albino cats are extremely rare, with around 300 white lions and 1,200 white tigers estimated to exist. Ligers, the offspring of a male lion and a female tiger, are also extremely rare and almost never happened outside of captivity. Ligers usually have a blend of subtle spots and stripes, with males having short manes. They are usually social like lions, but like to swim like tigers. Most impressively, they can weigh up to 1,000 pounds, which is around double the max weight of a tiger or lion. Fyi, a Tigon is the offspring of a male tiger and female lion, which are also usually smaller than their parents. Like with a mule and many hybrid animals, a liger most likely won’t be able to reproduce. This makes this white liger kittens possibly a one-of-a-kind event.
These miracle kitties exist thanks to T.I.G.E.R.S. and the Rare Species Fund in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This fund was established to provide funding to help critical wildlife conservation programs around the world.
Father lion Saraswati and mother tiger Ivory are now proud parents of Sampson, Odin, Yeti and Apolo. These little fluffballs have a lovely white-orange cream coloring, with light black stripes and spots. While tiny in these photos, they’re expected to reach 10-feet long and around 750 pounds by the time they’re two years old!
