Jason Oppenheim and Mary Fitzgerald Bonnet, stars of Selling Sunset, have sadly announced that their rescue dog Niko has passed away. The lil pup was a huge part of their lives for 18 years. Jason started their tribute to Niko on Instgram with, “With the heaviest hearts we write this letter to you our sweet baby boy, for 18 years you made us smile and laugh, and filled our world with immeasurable happiness. With your unconditional love and loyalty, you comforted us when we cried and helped heal our hearts when they were broken. You lifted us in times of need and celebrated with us our wins and successes.”
And for fans of the show that have been watching since it premiered in 2019, Niko has become a part of their lives as well. Mary and Jason’s joint Instagram post has already racked up over 300,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Many Selling Sunset cast members and Bravo TV stars paid their condolences in the comments. Nicole Young said, “The sweetest boy. I’ll love you forever my little nephew. My heart hurts for you and Mary…losing a dog is a heartache like no other,” and Chrishell Stause said, “Such a distinguished little gentleman I love you Niko.” Heather Rae El Moussa said, “Love you guys so sorry, ” and Gretchen Rossi said, “Ahh I’m so sorry for your loss. This is one of the hardest things ever. Sending healing prayers your way.” Jason’s brother, Brett Oppenheim, said, “Was the best baby boy, and he had an amazing life. Love all three of you forever.”
Their gallery of photos of Niko took friends, family, and followers through the years. Including a too-cute puppy pic, good times with Niko’s fur sibling, Zelda, and the couple’s matching Niko tattoos. It also included a photo of Mary with her husband Romain Bonnet. Despite Mary and Jason breaking up, they shared custody of their pups Niko and Zelda to ensure they led a happy life with both fur parents.
