Sofia Coppola is an American writer, director, producer, and actress who has made a name for herself with her unique storytelling style and a career spanning over three decades. Coppola’s breakout role was in her father Francis Ford Coppola’s film, “The Godfather Part III,” in which she played the role of Mary Corleone. She went on to act in several other films, including “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” “The Virgin Suicides,” and “Somewhere.”

However, it was Coppola’s transition to writing and directing that truly set her apart. Her debut feature film, “The Virgin Suicides,” which she wrote and directed, garnered critical acclaim and established her as a filmmaker to watch. She followed this up with “Lost in Translation,” which won her an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. This film, which starred Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson, was a critical and commercial success and won 98 awards and 133 nominations Internationally.

Coppola has collaborated with actors such as Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Emma Watson, and Nicole Kidman, among others. She has also worked with musicians, including Phoenix, Air, and Kevin Shields, to create memorable soundtracks for her films.

One of the most significant collaborations of Coppola’s career was with the fashion brand, Louis Vuitton. She directed a short film for the brand, titled “L’Invitation au Voyage,” which featured David Bowie‘s song “I’d Rather Be High.” The film showcased Coppola’s signature dreamy aesthetic and helped cement her status as a tastemaker in the fashion industry.
