Nina Dobrev
Nina Dobrev, a Canadian actress of Bulgarian descent, is widely recognized for her dynamic roles in television and film, particularly for portraying Elena Gilbert and Katherine Pierce on The CW’s supernatural drama series The Vampire Diaries. Her career began with a significant role as Mia on the teen drama television series Degrassi: The Next Generation, where she appeared for three seasons starting in 2006. Beyond The Vampire Diaries, Dobrev has demonstrated her versatility in films like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Let’s Be Cops, The Final Girls, and XXX: Return of Xander Cage, the latter of which became her most successful film grossing $346 million worldwide.
Dobrev’s early life saw her moving from Sofia, Bulgaria to Toronto, Canada, where she nurtured her interests in ballet, jazz, and rhythmic gymnastics. After high school, she pursued sociology at Ryerson University but left to focus on her acting career, training at Armstrong Acting Studios in Toronto. Her acting journey began with modeling and commercials, leading to her breakout role in Degrassi: The Next Generation and subsequently landing her career-defining role in The Vampire Diaries. Her recent projects include Love Hard with Jimmy O. Yang, as well as roles in films such as Redeeming Love and Sick Girl.
Aside from her acting career, Dobrev is deeply involved in various charitable causes, including Puma’s Project Pink for breast cancer and the WE Movement, which empowers youth as agents of change.
