Nayib Bukele
Nayib Bukele is a Salvadoran politician and businessman and 43rd president of El Salvador. He was born on July 24, 1981. He is the first president in El Salvador in 30 years to have been elected without joining either of the major political parties: the left-wing Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN) and the right-wing Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA).
Before becoming president, Nayib Bukele served as mayor of Nuevo Cuscatlán for three years from 2012 to 2015. He then became mayor of the nation’s capital, San Salvador, from 2015 to 2018. He established his own political party, Nuevas Ideas (NI), in 2018 and joined the 2019 election for president. Nayib won the 2019 election with 53% of the countries vote.
