Miro Heiskanen
Miro Heiskanen is a Finnish professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). Heiskanen was selected third overall by the Stars in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
Heiskanen began his professional career with HIFK in the Finnish Liiga, where he played for two seasons before joining the Dallas Stars. In his rookie NHL season, Heiskanen scored 12 goals and 21 assists in 82 games and was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team. During the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, he set a franchise record for points by a defenseman in a single postseason, contributing significantly to the Stars’ run to the Stanley Cup Final. Heiskanen has also represented Finland in international competitions, winning a gold medal at the 2019 IIHF World Championship.
Throughout his career, Heiskanen has collaborated with several key players. Notable teammates include Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, Alexander Radulov, and Esa Lindell. In international play, Heiskanen has played alongside Sebastian Aho, Mikko Rantanen, and Kaapo Kakko, contributing to Finland’s success in various tournaments. In the NHL, he has worked with Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin.
