Lorraine Toussaint
Lorraine Toussaint is a Trinidadian-American actress known for her role as Rene Jackson in the Lifetime series “Any Day Now” (1998–2002), which earned her multiple NAACP Image Award nominations. She received critical acclaim for portraying Yvonne “Vee” Parker in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” (2014), winning a Critics’ Choice Television Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.[1]
In “Any Day Now,” Toussaint starred alongside Annie Potts, exploring an interracial friendship. In “Orange Is the New Black,” she shared the screen with Taylor Schilling and Uzo Aduba. In “Selma” (2014), she portrayed civil rights activist Amelia Boynton Robinson, acting with David Oyelowo. On NBC’s “Crossing Jordan” (2002–2004), she played Dr. Elaine Duchamps, working with Jill Hennessy. In “Saving Grace” (2007–2010), she appeared as Capt. Kate Perry alongside Holly Hunter. Additionally, in “The Glorias” (2020), she portrayed Florynce Kennedy, collaborating with Julianne Moore.
