Liam Lawson
Liam Lawson is a New Zealand racing driver who has competed in various international motorsport series, including Formula 1, Formula 2, and the Super Formula Championship. He has been associated with the Red Bull Junior Team and has served as a reserve driver for Red Bull Racing and Scuderia AlphaTauri.[1]
Lawson began his career in karting before progressing to single-seater racing. He won the New Zealand Formula Ford Championship in the 2016–17 season, securing 14 out of 15 race victories.[2] In 2019, he claimed the Toyota Racing Series title, becoming the first New Zealander to do so since 2013. [3] Lawson competed in the FIA Formula 3 Championship in 2020, achieving two podium finishes. [4] He advanced to the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2021, securing a race win in his debut season. [5] In 2023, Lawson participated in the Super Formula Championship, finishing as the runner-up in his rookie season. [6] He made his Formula 1 debut with Scuderia AlphaTauri at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, substituting for the injured Daniel Ricciardo. [7] Lawson scored his first F1 points with a ninth-place finish at the 2023 Singapore Grand Prix. [8] Throughout his career, Lawson has collaborated with teams such as Hitech Grand Prix in Formula 2 and M2 Competition in the Toyota Racing Series, contributing to their competitive performances.[9]
