Awsten Knight is an American musician and author, distinguished for his role as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Waterparks. Known for his vibrant, multi-colored hair and charismatic stage presence, Knight has made significant strides in the pop-punk music scene since the band’s formation in 2011.

Awsten Knight, Geoff Wigington, and Otto Wood formed Waterparks in Houston, Texas, marking the start of a dynamic partnership. The band quickly drew attention with their unique blend of pop and punk, bringing a fresh energy to the genre. Their first full-length album, “Double Dare,” was released in 2016 under Equal Vision Records, and instantly became a staple in pop-punk music. They subsequently released three more albums, each one garnering further success, with “Fandom,” released in 2019, reaching number 2 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart. Alongside the band’s music career, Knight has also established himself as an author, releasing his first book, “You’d Be Paranoid Too (If Everyone Was Out to Get You),” in 2021.

Throughout his career, Knight has collaborated with numerous artists and personalities that have influenced his music and writing. Notable among these is Travis Barker, drummer of Blink-182, who has produced several songs for Waterparks. Other collaborations include notable music producer Zakk Cervini, alternative rock band Good Charlotte, and pop artist Demi Lovato. Knight also had the privilege to collaborate with artists like Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day, Hayley Williams of Paramore, and Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, who have all significantly influenced Waterparks’ sound. Additionally, he’s known for his creative exchanges with fellow musicians Patty Walters from As It Is and Mike Shinoda of Linkin Park.

In terms of awards and distinctions, Knight and his band have made quite a mark. Their second album, “Entertainment,” released in 2018, debuted at number 98 on the US Billboard 200 and number 2 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. “Fandom,” their third album, debuted at number 32 on the Billboard 200, making it their highest charting album to date. Moreover, they have received significant recognition from the Alternative Press Music Awards, with nominations for “Best Breakthrough Band” and “Best Live Band.”
