Meet Kitty Jacob Astor II. While he may sound like royalty, he’s the canine concierge at the St. Regis Hotel in Aspen, Colorado. The Bernese Mountain dog has warmly greeted guests at the ski resort since he was a pup.
This furry angel was a Christmas gift from Santa in 2018.
So you’re wondering about his regal title and who Kitty Jacob Astor I was? It dates back to the founder of the St. Regis Hotel brand, John Jacob Astor IV, who had an Airedale Terrier named Kitty. Both of them sadly passed away when the Titanic sank.
Besides being a friendly, furry face that greets guests as they check in, Kitty Jacob Astor II has many other duties around the hotel.
He often assists with room service delivery and airport pickups. He also hosts events, such as Barks and Brews, a dog rescue fundraiser, and children’s storytime events.
He also offers cuddles to human guests and hangs out with any furry guests at this dog-friendly hotel. Besides working hard, he also plays hard.
In the winter, you can catch him hitting the slopes and frolicking in the snow. He’s seen below with his big bro named Oso (Finnish for ‘bear’).
In the summer, you’ll likely spot him chillin’ poolside. (But with a coat like his, you’ll also find him there in the winter.)
Kitty is also a pet influencer with celebrity fans of his own. They include Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards and Alex Pall of The Chainsmokers.
And I’m sure you’re not surprised to find out Kitty’s also a model. Here he is striking a post next to actress Kate Hudson.
While it seems like his job is always action-packed, even Kitty can’t avoid admin work and the occasional Zoom meeting.
Until you get the chance to stay with him, make sure to follow Kitty on Instagram at @kittythebernese. And for a kitty concierge, meet Hamlet the Rescue Cat of the Algonquin Hotel.
