It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Roscoe, the beloved bulldog of Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton. The news comes just four days after Hamilton revealed his cherished canine co-driver was in a coma following a severe medical emergency. Hamilton announced Roscoe’s death in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Monday, sharing the painful decision he had to make. “After four days on life support, fighting with every bit of strength he had, I had to make the hardest decision of my life and say goodbye to Roscoe,” he wrote. “He never stopped fighting, right until the very end.”
As followers of this story will know, the 12-year-old bulldog, who just this summer graced the cover of Vogue’s “Dogue” edition, was hospitalized with pneumonia when his heart stopped. Vets were able to revive him, but he remained in a coma. In his tribute, Hamilton described Roscoe as a “beautiful soul, an angel and true friend,” and called bringing him into his life “the best decision I ever made.” He shared his profound grief and the deep connection he felt with others who have experienced the loss of a pet. “It is one of the most painful experiences and I feel a deep connection to everyone who has gone through the loss of a beloved pet,” Hamilton shared. “Although it was so hard, having him was one of the most beautiful parts of life, to love so deeply and to be loved in return.”
Hamilton also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans who had followed Roscoe’s journey over the years. He confirmed that Roscoe passed away peacefully in his arms on Sunday evening, September 28th. Our deepest condolences to Lewis, his friends and family, and his many fans.
