Burt the Crocodile Actor from ‘Crocodile Dundee’ Has Passed Away at 90, ‘End of an Incredible Era’

Via an Instagram post from Crocosaurus Cove in Darwin City, Australia – their resident Crocodilian actor, Burt, passed away. Burt is best known for his role in the original Crocodile Dundee with Paul Hogan. Released in 1986, the Australian movie became an international success, a fixture of 80s and 90s pop culture, and is still the highest-grossing movie in Australia.

Burt, a Saltwater Crocodile, was an estimated at least 90 years old at the time of his passing. In the tribute to Burt, they called it an “end to an incredible era.” They noted the “fierce and fascinating” croc spent the last years of his life educating visitors about his species.

The old guy was also a big guy – Tipping the scales at 700kg (around 1500 lbs) and measuring 5.1m (around 17ft).
