The ‘Muttcracker’ by Dancers & Dogs and the St. Louis Ballet Has Found Over 100 Dogs Their Forever Homes

The delightfully named “Muttcracker” is an annual holiday project started by photographers, Dancers & Dogs, that’s now in its sixth year. The Muttcracker brings together dancers from the St. Louis Ballet and dogs from the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, for a doggy-filled photoshoot inspired by the classic Christmas ballet “The Nutcracker.”

The photographer behind Dancers & Dogs are Kelly Pratt and Ian Kreidich, who specialized in dance and movement photography. They then had the unique/adorable idea of combining dogs with dancers. They teamed up with friends at the St. Louis Ballet, leading to them first going viral back in 2018. Now thanks to their time and the volunteer dancers from the St. Louis Ballet, we all get to enjoy these lovely photos while raising awareness for dog adoption.

And since they started six years ago, they’ve got over 100 dogs adopted (plus a few kitties)! They incredibly post a different photoshoot for each day in December, so make sure to visit @dancersanddogs on Instagram.
