Tennis Champ Andy Murray Shares Heartbreak of Losing His 2nd Dog ‘House Feels Empty’

Retired tennis champ Andy Murray posted a heartfelt tribute to Rusty, his family’s “loyal and protective companion.” The senior pup, who was around 15 or 16 years old, passed away over the weekend.

Murray included, “The house feels empty without you in it. This sad news follows the loss of his Maggie May in 2022. Both pups were Border Terriers, with Maggie his family’s first pet. Rusty joined the family sometime after.

The matching pups are best known for a viral photo in 2012, when their dad won two Olympic medals at the London Olympics. While no longer active, Maggie May’s Twitter account had about 30,000 followers, who helped the photo below go viral.

Maggie May (short for “Mayhem”) also published a book in 2016 titled How to Look After Your Human. Rusty didn’t get any official credit for working on the book but we can assume he was Maggie’s muse.
