Wilson Cruz is an American actor and activist, recognized for his roles as Rickie Vasquez on “My So-Called Life” and Dr. Hugh Culber in “Star Trek: Discovery.”

Cruz’s television debut occurred in “My So-Called Life” (1994-1995), where he portrayed Rickie Vasquez, one of the first openly gay characters on a major network TV show. His other roles include appearances in “Party of Five,” “Noah’s Arc,” and the film “He’s Just Not That Into You” (2009). Since 2017, he has portrayed Dr. Hugh Culber on “Star Trek: Discovery,” a character that is part of a groundbreaking gay couple portrayal in the Star Trek franchise.

Throughout his career, Cruz has collaborated with numerous actors that have shaped the projects he has been part of. In “My So-Called Life,” he acted alongside Claire Danes and Jared Leto. His role in “Party of Five” saw him share the screen with Jennifer Love Hewitt.
