Sophie Nélisse is a Canadian actress known for her role as Liesel Meminger in the film The Book Thief (2013), based on Markus Zusak’s novel. She also stars as young Shauna in the Showtime series Yellowjackets (2021–present) and appeared in Monsieur Lazhar (2011), which was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In The Book Thief, Nélisse worked alongside Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson, portraying a young girl navigating life during World War II. In Yellowjackets, she collaborated with Melanie Lynskey, playing the younger version of her character in a complex psychological drama. She shared the screen with Mohamed Fellag in Monsieur Lazhar, depicting the challenges of a classroom coping with loss. In the film Endorphine (2015), she acted with Lise Roy, exploring intersecting narratives. In The Great Gilly Hopkins (2015), she starred alongside Kathy Bates in an adaptation of Katherine Paterson’s novel. Nélisse also worked with Ryan Reynolds in The Mother (2023).
