Rebecca Marino
Rebecca Marino is a Canadian professional tennis player who, after taking an indefinite break from the sport in 2013 to focus on her education, made a successful return to the pro circuit in 2018. Marino has won two Female Player of the Year awards from Tennis Canada and is notable for being one of the few women ever to have reached a WTA singles ranking of 38. During her break from tennis, Marino studied English literature at the University of British Columbia and was part of their rowing team. She also worked as a certified Club Pro 1 coach at the UBC Tennis Centre. After announcing her intention to return to professional tennis in 2017, she experienced delays due to ITF administrative regulations but returned in January 2018 and won the title in her first tournament back. Since then, she has continued competing on both national and international circuits.
