Niecy Nash
Niecy Nash-Betts is an American actress, comedian, and television host. Born Carol Denise Ensley, Nash’s early career was characterized by guest appearances on various TV shows including Judging Amy, Reba, CSI, and ER. However, her career took a significant turn when she joined the cast of Reno 911! in 2003. In this comedy, she portrayed the memorable character Deputy Raineesha Williams, contributing to the show’s parody of law enforcement.
Nash’s versatility as an actress was further showcased when she hosted the reality series Clean House on the Style Network from 2004 to 2010. This show, which focused on home makeovers and organization, earned a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Class Special in 2010.
Her career continued to flourish with a regular role on the Hot in Cleveland spinoff The Soul Man, where she starred opposite Cedric the Entertainer from 2012 to 2016. During this period, Nash also made a significant impact with her role in the HBO series Getting On, starting in 2013. Her performance in Getting On was critically acclaimed, earning her nominations for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in both 2015 and 2016, as well as a Critics’ Choice Television Award nomination in 2016.
Nash’s filmography includes the historical drama film Selma (2014), where she played Richie Jean Jackson. The film was directed by Ava DuVernay and received high praise from critics and audiences alike.
