Ncuti Gatwa is a Rwandan-Scottish actor known for his role as Eric Effiong on the Netflix comedy-drama series Sex Education (2019–present). The role earned him a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor in Television and three BAFTA Television Award nominations for Best Male Comedy Performance. In 2022, Ncuti Gatwa landed a major lead role as the fifteenth incarnation of the Doctor on the BBC series Doctor Who. He will be the first black actor to lead the series. The series has been broadcast since since 1963 winning numerous awards through the generations. Leading the role is a prestigious role for any actor.
