Matthew Gray Gubler is an American actor, director, and visual artist best known for his role as Dr. Spencer Reid on the hit CBS show “Criminal Minds.” Gubler was born on March 9, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada and grew up in the nearby city of Henderson. He attended New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied film directing. In addition to his work on “Criminal Minds,” Gubler has also appeared in a number of films and television shows, including “500 Days of Summer,” “Life After Beth,” and “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.” Outside of acting, Gubler is also an accomplished painter and has exhibited his artwork in galleries around the world.
