Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. is an American rapper worth an estimated $150 million. He started his rap career at only nine years old, making him the youngest member of Birdman’s label Cash Money Records. He was first part of The B.G.’z then in 1996 he joined the Hot Boys. He first big success was with the Hot Boys’ album Guerrilla Warfare in 1999 which went platinum. That same year he released his first solo album Tha Block is Hot which also went platinum.
He continued to release albums and mixtapes through the 2000s, along with collaborating with artists like Eminem and Beyoncé with Destiny’s Child. In 2005, he also launched his own label, Young Money Entertainment. His album Tha Carter III in 2008 won him a Grammy for Best Rap Album. In 2012, Lil Wayne beat Elvis Presley’s record as the male with the most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100. He has sold over 100 million records, making him one of the biggest selling artists of all time.
